DEFENDER IS THE BEST WAY

Long live Defender but sadly I can’t see it scraping past its sell by date of 2013 ish. It now seems unthinkable that its pedestrian unfriendly front end absence of airbags and relatively labour intensive construction can limp any further into the future.  A Defender we want I’d rather see it die peacefully than succumb to modern vehicle architecture that may finally blacken its whole ethos.
We don’t get this passionate about the modern stuff. Range Rover perhaps. But would we care if the Discovery 3 Range rover spot or Freelander 2 was axed tomorrow? Well yes but not all of us our interest may stretch to the whole range but passion is more concentrated it’s the old or it’s the new
This came garage to me when I took our Discovery 2 off the road for a few days for maintenance and replaced it with our series III 109 as my daily drive. There was a thrill driving something relatively unique, and I couldn’t help admiring it whenever it was parked up.
