A FEW POINTS TO CONSIDER

When an engine is put back into this after a long period of time, thick oil residues in the sump get attracted to the oil pump filter gauze and partially clog it starving the pump and reducing engine lubrication. This is most likely to occur on high mileage, neglected vehicles that used old fashioned oils it might be worth dropping the sump and checking cleanliness.

If performance seems poor it may just be that the piston rings are stuck and not sealing properly. Use Redex and the rings will free up eventually. If it’s still no good there may already be valve seat recession causing loss of compression.
After the engine has been run up to temperature and is sounding good, change the oil, and oil filter and coolant. And be aware that engine don’t like standing seals may have bride or shrunk or hardened, hoses may start to delaminate internally, and the thermostat may be sticky. Don’t assume thing will continue to go perfectly, as it can all go downhill. Keep checking.
