DISCOVERY 3 ANTI ROLL BAR BUSHES

The front anti roll bar bushes are sited above and inboard of the lower arm rear mount. Simply remove the two nuts and remove the cap to expose the rubber bush on the bar. The cap may be stuck. If that’s the case, just price it off with a lever. The bush is split along is base, so you can simply pull it off the bar if you want, perhaps levering it open with a screwdriver.  The new polybush also has a split, so it’s easy to slip it into position over the bar and refit the cap and the two nuts. Ensure that the bush and the cap are seated correctly before tightening. Replace one side at a time to keep the roll bar in position. Rear anti roll bar bushes are on the chassis, forward of the body mount access is pretty tight here. The bush is spilt horizontally.
Suspension strut damper bushes. We’re already seen how to go about removing the lower damper mounts. Release the top of the unit by undoing three nuts. The brackets hold part of heat shield. It’s held by two rearmost nuts atop strut, remove these first to retrieves bracket, get spanner on this air pipe connection but keep unit supported so as not to strain pipe. Lift the air suspension damper strut out of the vehicle, nothing the orientation of the stud and air connection for re fitting. As with the upper and lower arm bushes, the original strut bush need to pushed out using a hydraulic press. The new polybushes will tape in the easily. Make sure that they’re lubricated with a smearing of thin oil and finish tightened in a vice it’s important use protective packing for this.
