FREELANDER THERMOSTAT

How do fit the remote thermostat modification to your freelabder? You’ll need to thermostat blanking plate, a new rubber seal and the radiator to engine hose assembly with thermostat. With the cooling system cold and drained, disconnect the heater hose and the coolant rail from the thermostat housing and unbolt the coolant rail from the engine block. Unbolt the thermostat housing at the block, then release it from its connection at the coolant pump. Unbolt the cover from the thermostat housing, withdraw the thermostat and its seal the replace them with the blanking plate with a new seal. Refit and reconnect the thermostat housing assembly.
Remove the coolant houses between the radiator inlet/outlet and the engine connections. Replace these with the new hose assembly with integral thermostat. The assembly fits with the thermostat nearest to the radiator’s bottom connection.
Take care when filling the system, ensuring it’s correctly bled from the valves on the transfer and heater hoses to remove any air. Recheck the level frequently for the first few miles.
