OFF RODING

In all Land Rovers whether petrol or diesel checks that your axle and gearbox breather pipes are in robust health. This is especially important on older vehicles, because they can get blocked over the passage of time by mud, grit, into your axles or gearbox, you won’t know about it straight away. Some weeks down the line, though, you could be looking at a very expensive repair.
You’ll have recovery gear in your vehicle as a matter of course. but part of your essential pre wading preparation should include making sure that shackles are already attached if you come to a sudden halt in door high water who’s going to volunteer to grope around under water to fit them.
Similarly, make sure your tow rope is attached and coiled up on the bonnet. And make it a long one if you’ve become stuck in water for whatever reason, it’s highly unlikely that the block who’s got to pull you out will want to drive too far in there, if at all. So give yourself enough rope.
