HOW TO DRIVE DOWN STEEP HILLS

Driving down steep hills can be daunting can a Land Rover really be capable of mastering the kind of gravity defying descents that you find on almost all off road courses?
Using a either a very low gear or electronic traction aids, very Land Rover can conquer very steep slopes. in the first scenario, the compression of your engine keeps the speed down in the latter, multiple pulses to the brakes keep everything in check. But before plunging downhill, you should get out of the vehicle and risk assesses the situation on foot. is the surface dry or wet firm or loose? Are there undulations that could cause you to lose traction or throw you off course and are the entry and exit points viable for your Land Rover? Wet grass is the most treacherous surface. Loose gravel and sand are unpredictable. Humps and bumps, meanwhile, can get you cross axle.
Get out of the vehicle and take a close look at the hill and terrain on foot. Satisfy yourself that it’s safe to drive and that your vehicle can clear the entry and exit points. When you approach the crest of the hill, make sure you line up your front wheels so that they’re pointing in the direction you’ll be travelling downhill. As you descend, keep your eye on a landmark in the distance and head towards that rather than watching your bonnet. That way, you’ll keep to the correct line.
