Why did you get stuck in the first place? Did you check the depth of the water before driving in? You can properly answer. Yes to that question only if you pulled your willies or waders on and got in there with your prodding stick but there’s no other way to do it. so I am aware that some people advice driving in and edging your way forwards slowly, but that doesn’t do it what if a wheel drops off a ledge as you inch your way forwards?
When you’re checking for depth, don’t just prod around ahead, you need to consider the Land Rovers wheel tracks, so make sure you check the appropriate area nearby. It’s not just depth you’re checking for either what the bottom consists of.
If it’s stony, watch out of diff destroying boulders. If it’s silty, don’t even brother checking any further. you can have all the momentum you like, but a two tone Land Rover is going to sink right down to its axles the second it encounters silt.
