THE RANGE ROVER POSH SEATS

In these days of sophisticated vehicles in which even the seat adjustment in the Range Rover is controlled by complicated electronics, it’s chastening to go back in time just three decades. When the original three door Range Rover was launched in 1970 it gained much praise for the comfort and ergonomic excellence, of its front seats, despite having no adjustment for height, squad tilt or backrest recline, now considered to be essential in a premium sector vehicle.
Former Range rover developments engineers, initially, the driver seat had just for and after adjustment, and backrest forward tilt. As the backrest was tilted forward, the complete seat also slid forward to aid access to the rear but the driver than had to readjust the seat when he or she re entered the vehicle.
The passenger seat was designed to have a fixed position, with a tilt and slide mechanism that returned the seat to its original seat position, but this was soon abandoned, and the same system was used as on the driver’s seat.
