The air intake for heater/ blower fans is often overlooked, but is susceptible to water ingress especially if you're going too fast, causing water to rush up on to the bonnet, along the wing and down into that intake. Another good reason to keep a cool head.
When you get back on dry land, dry out your breaks by applying them gently a few times, then head for the jetwash to scoosh our the grit and mud that the water deposited everywhere. At the first opportunity, treat your propshafts to a coat of grease.
Another consideration when wading in a convoy is that nice, clean water may be anything but by the time the fourth or fifth vehicle takes its run there could be all sorts of mud and sediment swirling about, ready to get in behind a radiator. It’ll start to dry instantly and bearing in mind that the alternator and the bearing on the back of the fan are right behind the rad, that’s potentially bad news. Cover that radiator before you go in.
