And while we’re driving around on our winter tyres where do we put the other set, according to Michelin, the best way to store your tyers is by standing them upright or, if they’re still fitted to the wheels, lay them flat on the floor stacked one on top of another. They’re best kept indoors cool and dry, avoiding heat sources and sunlight. If they have to be stored outside, keep them raised off the ground clear of damp, and protect them with a waterproof cover that won’t allow sunlight through. Either way, they should be rotated or re stacked occasionally when lifting them.
If winter tyrs are made compulsory, then what’s next? Sunny day tyres to help grip the melting tarmac, autumn foliage tyres to marginally reduce the chance of skidding on wet leaves, there’s very cheap and simple solution to all of this. Look after your normal tyres depth for winter, and drive according to the conditions.
