Armoring the body work was once the preserve of utility companies, but it makes a lot of sense for enthusiasts, especially those who are always clambering over there Land Rovers on the job or at off road sites.
Protect them with a second skin, thickening the amount of metal and adding strength. The most common covering for Land Rovers is chequerplate, but you can also get sheet of metal with anti slip coating that will do the same job and these can be bought in different colours, too, making is easier to match or contrast with your vehicle colour. If you’re fitting it try and do it before the panels start to get dented otherwise you’ll turn a simple job into a pain. Also consider insulating it from the bodywork with rubber to reduce the amount of water finding its way between and causing corrosion. Aluminium rivets will also help reduce galvanic corrosion.
