The Defender parts

WHY DO WE NEED THREAD LOCK?
Vibration is great at working loose all the nuts, bolts, screws and studs that hold a vehicle together. And if your hobby happens to include throwing that vehicle around a quarry at the weekend, you’re only going to make it worse. That’s wear vibration proof thread lock compounds come in exceptionally handy. They can literally be used all over your land rover, from the engine internals right out to the furthest flung extremities of the body work.
There are three strength grades a normal or screws lock grade for  those components held together by machine screws medium or nut lock grade for bolts in and high or stud lock grade for holding the likes of manifold and head studs securely in place.  All grades can be bought in semi solid wax or liquid forms. The wax type is very similar to a glue stick in operation and can be wiped on the thread with no danger of anything dropping into your eyes great news if you are working under a vehicle. The liquide type is simply squeezed on the thread. Generally, thread lock is applied on to the bolt or stud, rather than the female part of the assembly. The exception is when a bolt or stud is being screwed into a thread tapped in a solid block. In this situation, the liquid type thread lock is poured into the tapped hole first
