A Towing Hitch

When looking at a off roading capabilities of a vehicle, the approach, break down and departure angle are vital consideration. The departure angle is worked out in the same way as the approach angle but at the rear this gives you the maximum angle that you can leave an obstacle without that horrendous grinding noise as you return to level ground. When working out these angles, the lowest part of the vehicle is you are must measure to, and invariably on four wheel drive vehicles the rear tow bar is the big problem. A removable tow bar or receive r hitch is one possible way around this. A receiver hitch is a two piece two pack set up with the main frame permanently fixed to the vehicle chassis and a removable assembly carrying the tow ball or jaw, fixed using a pin and r clip simply remove the tow ball when not in use and ground clearance and departure angle can be dramatically improved. The receiver is the standard size while the hitches vary to suit both the vehicle and the task. For example, hitchers can be bought that incorporate different amount of droops so the hitch can be varied to suit individual trailers to avoid nose up or nose down towing angles. Other you can use be made of the receiver hitch too some off road specialist suppliers offer a recovery shackle adaptor great for off road recovery.
