We’ve reached the inevitable fiddly stage known and loved by all Land Rover builders where a small number of jobs will tie up a disproportionate amount of time. There are breaks and bracket to deal with and then the fitting and building up of the you a own Land Rover Defender jeep.
When we stripped out of the old four pot brake caliper some of the piston seals were worn and there was evidence of brake fluid leakage. They will be rebuilding later on but, for now, Stuart fits pair of new calipers and fresh brake pads. The back of the pads (non friction side just to be clear) are smeared with cooper grease to stop brake squeal. The locating pins get some grease, too. This well makes them easier to remove in future. The discs have a light touch of surface rust from standing idle, but this will soon clear clear with use Stuart fixes new braided brake hose at the front and rear. See the Defender looking like a Land Rover again by the time you pike up your next post of Land Rover.
