DISCOVERY 3 COMFORT

The front seats are the epitome of armchair comfort easily manoeuvred at the push of a few buttons for the best view in the house. The middle row this is a seven seater are little less supportive, although not uncomfortable unless you spend several hours on them. The third row pears of seats are a scramble to get into but popular with the passengers. The big box shapes make this the perfect load carrier. The middle and the back row of seats fold flat to give a vast load bed nearly two meters long, at 2558 litres, it’s firmly into the small van league. The split tailgate gives a sturdy platform to sit on for green lane picnics, which is cool, but with this lower section folded down, it’s a long stretch to reach right in.

For a big, heavy 4x4 it’s an incredible performer, its smooth, effortless, handling inspires confidence. For most of the time, the TDV6 delivers all the power you need, it’s no road burner but it’s a long way from gutless. If you’ve never driven Discovery 3 off road you can’t appreciate fully what a spectacular piece of design and engineering it really is, you simply have to experience it to believe it.
