HOW TO FIX ROOF AND PANEL

The panels are both loosely bolted in. this provides bit of leeway when it comes to fitting the roof, together. Fits the side panel to roof seals. They’re next effective and a lot more weather resistant than the thin bead of silicone you’ll find on some Land Rovers. The front roof seal slides into a narrow channel. This would present enough of a challenge if the channel was a regular shape o get the seal to seal properly. The roof penal is the fairly light, but cumbersome, panel to lift on and lineup. Ones it’s in place, the roof is bolted through to the side panels that are, in turn, fully tightened to the rear body. This truly knackered piece of metal was consigned to the skip long ago and has been replaced by this handsome scrap yard replacement.
Once the nearside door top is on, fits the door rubbers. When the door catches were fitted in the last issue, a short length of door rubber was fitted on the frame so the catches could be adjusted properly. That means both doors shut flush with the body now that the full rubber has been installed.
