THE SERIES DAMPER

Bounce the front corner of the vehicle and see what happen it should bounce only the once, as the dampers take out any future movement. This test work for most cars, but it doesn’t do so well on leaf sprung Land Rovers.
They’re sprung stiffly one so you can hardly make a good bounce and many have partially seized springs. you’d probably get a better idea by driving over a lumpy or corrugated road surface if the dampers are gone the wheels may patter keep on bouncing. Again, though, is something that show up better on more lightly sprung vehicles.
Take a close look at the dampers with a touch and see if there’s any oil leakage. But the best way is to take them off if a damper is failing, you wont mistake it. it’ll be quite easy to open and close.
Dampers can last a long time but, even when they do, the rubber bushes usually deteriorate, so get set of these before you take the dampers off.
