Some DIY store sell the Velcro strip or, if you know anyone involved with exhibition work or signage, they’ll probably let you have a bit. And here’s another thing that’s not too well designed on the 300TDI Defender support for the air cleaner. You get four little rubber insulated fastening, that’s all.
Open the bonnet of any older 300TDI Defender and wiggle the air cleaner there’s a good chance one or more of these has given up trying to keep hold of the relatively heavy casing and sheared off. That puts more strain on the others, of course. If they all shear off, your air cleaner won’t escape, but it’ll thump about and knock on the underside of the bonnet, wearing away the sound insulation. Buy a set of four and replace them next time you do a service, if they haven’t sheared off yet they probably soon well.
