We tried the cleaning products on a three quarter canvas that had been fitted on a truck cab diesel Land Rover the front and sides of the canvas were pretty dirty, but the back was absolutely filthy with exhaust residue. Our canvas has a window front and back. We repeated the test at both ends of the canvas, treating back window and back canvas , then treating front window and front canvas the plan here was to see if the cleaners would be equally effective on the heavy and light soiling of the canvas.

You could clean the canvas on or off the vehicle, but normally it’s best to keep it on it’s easier to rinse thoroughly. The window cleaner brought up the plastic surface to a glass like finish. The cleaned canvas will need proofing, which we didn’t test. Has a production that stabilizes the canvas against UV radiation and moulds the two main causes of deterioration.
