Alternator and air con compressor bracket is secured from support bracket for removal. Remove oil pressure warning light wire and Allen screw securing heater pipe from the bottom hose. Note size is diameter of 15/16in.
Mark wires from coil terminal and remove. Disconnect multi plug from distributor along with earth strap from the amplifier to block. Remove earth wires connected to stud on rear of cylinder head. Remove transmission breathers from cylinder head lifting eye.
With the ram and plenum housings removed, the top bell housing bolt can reached. They are difficult to reach and very tight 8 bolt. With torque converter disconnected from engine, lower bell housing bolt can be taken off. Note cover to access drive plate bolts. To disconnect drive plate from torque converter, remove access aluminium plate. Note the two bolts with elongated end. Mark the drive plate to torque converter plate and remove securing bolts. Access is restricted and a ring spanner has to be used.
