BRAKES

Remove the wheel to get at the brake pads, check the brake fluid reservoir to ensure there isn’t too much brake fluid in it, and then remove the pads. If you can’t fit the new pads in, use a wooden bar or water pump pliers to push the pistons back into the calipers.
Remove the spilt pin from the end of the retaining pin. Note that, for some reason, there are no springs on the pin on our brakes. Slide out the pin and remove the pads. You can see here that the right hand pad has worn unevenly over the end of the disc.
Smear copper grease across the entire back of the pads and insert these into the caliper. Keep an eye on the reservoir fluid level. Slide retaining pins through the holes, which have been fitted with new anti rattle springs between the pads, then fit a new split pin.
