Disc cutter makes easy work of removing boot floor. We recommend using gloves, goggles and ear defenders when doing this. Y0ou’ll see where the old floor was joined. Cut up to seam, or just inside it if you’re worried about removing too much metal.
The bolt floor should have lifted out at this point, but we had forgotten about the bracing struts underneath that it is spot welded to. So our next job was to grab a hammer and sharp chisel to cut through the spot welds. You’ll easily see where they’re positioned.
And then the old floor can be lifted out. Note that is wearing some sturdy gloves to protect hands against the sharp metal. We also discovered that we’d sliced through one of the discovery’s brake pipes with the disc cutter one we’d replaced recently. While the floor is out it’s a wise idea to power wash away any mud that have accumulated underneath there.
