CRANING IT CLEAR

If the engine will not come off the gearbox, ensure you have removed all eight bolts, as they are difficult to locate. When lifting the engine, check that all the wires and ancillary components have actually been disconnected.

Ensure the crane or lifting tackle is placed centrally and on level ground so that there’s no danger of it tottering off and collapsing in an expensive heap on floor. It also must be strong enough for the job, and be in such a position that it is capable of lifting the engine high enough to comfortably clear the body. Seek advice if unsure.
