HOWE TO REMOVE ENGINE

Remove bonnet. Attach chain to lifting eyes and support gearbox with a jack and block of wood. Remove the engine mount bolts, carefully lift the engine and check for wires or pipes that are still connected. Pull away from gearbox, levering off locater dowels. Pull engine towards front of car and gently lift out of engine bay.

Drain engine oil from sump and dispose of correctly. Lock the flywheel, drive plate and then unscrew the front pulley nut. Lock the flywheel, drive plate with a bar and remove set screws securing it. Remember to use new bolts during reassembly.

For ease of working and enable the engine to be easily rotated for strip down, use engine stand, bolted to the bell housing. Ensure the torque converter cannot move by holding it into position with a strong plate bolted across the bell housing.
