New Land Rovers, like other makes, do have reliability issues that are not safety related. These aren’t general knowledge because all new cars under a manufacturer’s warranty are repaired and serviced exclusively at franchised dealers. And no dealership is likely to discuss what breaks on the model it’s selling. The salesperson will rightly explain what’s good workshop and sale floor is firmly shut, at least while the punter is around.
It’s only after the warranty has expired and owners send their cars to other garage that technicians and garage owners openly discuss the fault they fined and hear about. Despite recognized problems, such as early issues with Range Rover front differential alignment, plus electronic glitches and turbocharger concern on Discovery 3, the honest word in the trade is that Land Rover’s latest vehicles, Range Rover and especially Discovery 3, and Range Rover Sport, annihilate the competition. Engineering design and quality of new Land Rovers is not only leading the field, it’s reliable too.
