`CHECK THE WATERPROOFING THE ENGINE

Tightly wrapped plastic tape will keep moisture off the low and high tension leads at the coil. Alternatively, apply sealant. Stretch a latex glove, with end cut off fingers, over 4 pot distributer so that an HT lead can pass through each finger.
Avoid condensation in V8 distributer by fitting fresh air vent tube and vacuum pipe to draw air through. Always fit special plugs into the drain holes under the cam belt casing and clutch before wading to keep water and grit out. Diesel wade deep with a snorkel, but engine air system and the breather system and hoses must still be sealed watertight.
Check breather pipes by blowing in them to pressurize, then release and note the small if you can’t smell oil, pipe may be kinked. TD5 under seat ECU and fuse box is vulnerable to water ingress. Seal and vent the box, or move it to a higher position.
