LAND ROVR MILITARY TACTIC

Admittedly TD5 has never been militarized and the British Army has stuck steadfastly with the proven 300TDI in its wolf version of Defender. Nevertheless, TD5 has seen plenty of active service.
The USA Special Forces decided their own vehicle was too big for some gulf areas bought a fleet of TD5 Defenders. Because of logistical problem in getting diesel fuel they wanted to run the engines on aircraft fuel and it was great to be able to run them on pure jet fuel without any additives.
The British Army still runs 300 TDI in wolf, which will also run on jet fuel, but you need to add a small amount of lubricating oil.US forces also ran a few Discovery TD5s on jet fuel.
TD5 is quite happy because it has no injection pump. And anyway, all the injector development and durability testing was done using kerosene.
