WHAT’S CAUSING THIS UNSIGHTLY RASH ON YOUR DISCO

Unfortunately, there is no permanent cure for this, other than replacing the panel or having new section of aluminium welded in, which is an expensive job. The best you can do is to rub down the sports with fine sandpaper and scrape out any areas that have holed.
Treaty the bare holes and pock marks using flexible body filler or stopper. Level the surface by sanding, then re treat any exposed aluminium with etch primer. Apply a coat of primer paint to the filled area as soon as it dries, to prevent the filler absorbing moisture. Then finish off the job with top coats of body colour.
To help avoid further deterioration, try to get some liquid wax to the back of the panel, in between the outer and inner panel, especially where aluminium is next to steel. This will help reduce electrolytic corrosion.
The problem appears to have been eradicated in later models because of improved pre treatment and electro coating, greater use of zinc coating steels and a more detailed wax injection process.
