FREELANDER MOUNTS

The rear mounting are easy to wiggle out of position and withdraw from the vehicle. Renew if the centre bush is spilt or soft. This new rear mounting bracket and rubber bush shows the rubber vibration damper fitted as an integral part of the unit. Tilt the front end of diff to the left of the vehicle, so you can slide front mount sideways into the gap between the diff body and flange.

The mounting bracket can now be twisted forward in order to withdraw the bush from the sub frame flanges and work it free. In this case, the rubber segment inside the aluminium mounting frame is well short. It’s enough to give 20mm of excess movement.

Slip the new mounting into position exactly the same way then entre the central through bolt and screw it in. but don’t tighten it yet. Finally refit the prop shaft flange to the differential flange, aligning the previously made marks, and then tighten up. That’s it done
