One reason Land Rover mill is particularly entertaining, the supercharged petrol V8, it’s hardly an environmental flagship, but it’s certainly a statement of how it can produce a road burner. The supercharge Sport is manic, though its 0 60 mph time is only 1.2 sec faster than that of the Range Rover diesel V8 and its emission are getting back up towards P38 levels.
However that’s still peanuts compared to say a coal fired power station. Tighter emission regulation may well be a burden on the motor industry but, after years of dithering design directions, they’ve provided a real focus for engine development. The result is an exceptional range of new engines from Land Rover, even if they are based on Ford, Jaguar and Volvo technologies. Nothing wrong with that it’s always been good, reliable kit.
