RANGE ROVER SPORT

One recent Land Rover mill is particularly entertaining the supercharge petrol V8. It’s probably not Land Rover’s environmental flagship, but it’s certainly a statement of how it can produce a road burner. The supercharge sport is manic though its 60mpg tike is only 1.2 seconds faster than the new Range Rover diesel V8. And its emission is getting back up towards P38 levels, but that’s still peanuts compared to say, coal fired power station. Talking of which, the nuclear power industry was supposed to eliminate all that though, not yet. But it has eliminated high under bonnet temperature in standard or hybrid Land Rovers.

Tighter emission regulation might be a burden on the motor industry but, after years of dithering design directions, they have provided a real focus for engine development.
