Such a huge subject and one that everyone has views on. Firstly there are the different types, fast road, all terrain, mud and extreme, so you’ll need to know what you want your Land Rover to do to choose the right tyres. Fast road tyres would be no good for towing your horsebox because they wouldn’t be suitable on wet grass at the event. And extreme tyres would be out for the opposite reasons.
But while the best tyre type for most people who spend most of their time on road with the few off road excursions may be all terrain, many people are seduced by looks. Let face it aggressive tyres look great. And I don’t just mean extreme tyres. Fast road tyres with directional tread look far better on a road going Land rover than normal road tyres. But a tooled up full on extreme machine would look plain daft the week when it isn’t conquering uncharted terrain.
